We purchased this for our one year old to go with his play kitchen. I looked in stores and most of the carts I found already had wheels popping off and were cheap and flimsy. My kids climb in and on everything so I knew the ones I saw would be trash within a week. I found this online for a few bucks more and once I realized the wheels can't just pop off I was sold. It's made from the same sturdy textured plastic as most Little Tikes stuff and everything screws together except the cart's toy seat. My kids (biggest is 32 pounds) have gotten in the basket, laid the cart on its side and stood on the basket, they've tipped it forward and laid on the curved back part...it shows no signs of damage. It's really nice when toys can stand up to rough play. It holds a lot of toys and rolls really well. So much so that I don't think it would make a good toy for younger kids that are still leaning heavily for balance. Our cart doesn't have that plug that other reviewers have mentioned to fill it with sand, so there is no way to stabilize it or slow it down. But for kids who are balancing on their own or walking this is a great durable fun cart. My almost 2 year old and 3 1/2 year old love it and have played with it every day for the last month and a half.

The Little Tikes shopping cart is already a huge hit with my 10 month old granddaughter who just started to walk. She just loved standing up, toddling along and pushing her cart all over the family room and dining room. It worked better on the carpet than the wood floor, because the carpet slowed her down a bit. She still needs to be accompanied on her cart excursions to make sure she doesn't go too fast and fall down, but it won't be long until she's zooming around on her own. Since she is still quite wobbly, we needed to make the cart heavier, so filled the basket with two 5 lb. bags of flour. When mom and dad take the cart back home with them, they will put sand in the bottom to make it more stable and heavy. Baby loves throwing her toys out of the cart, but we are hopeful that she will also learn, with much encouragement, to put her toys IN the cart. When my girls were toddlers so many years ago, we had a grocery cart and would play the "pick up" game every evening before bath/bed time, zooming around to gather up all the loose toys and put them back in the toy basket. Good habits start young! I'm sure this cart will also come in quite handy in the years to come.

A shopping cart is a classic. It's sturdy enough for my 12 month old. I would recommend.

We have owned more than one of these carts and I just ordered another. It's brightly colored, sturdy, and safe if used the way the toy is intended to be used, with normal supervision of the little kids. We've had them for my grandchildren (nine grands) for the past ten years. Let me tell you this...of all the electronics, gadgets, toys, battery suckers, and other stuff we've had for these kids, this toy has been the most popular, bar none, for all the kids, boys and girls, of all ages. It gets used almost every day by some visiting child...and it doesn't matter how old the kid is. They all are attracted to this simple, child-powered, imaginative toy, and the thing doesn't say a word, has no buttons or dials, and has to actually be PUSHED to make it go. My ten year old asked me to get a new one when the wheel finally fell off the one they have used for five years. I'm happy to buy it—this is an outstanding value and tons of fun indoors or out. It even got dragged into the bathtub once, but we outlawed a repeat of that performance. Buy this toy.

I love this little cart. In fact, I have bought it twice for my daughter - once when she was a year and freshly walking, and again when she was 3.5 and desperately begging for it to go with her play kitchen. (I had gotten rid of it when she was about 2.5 because I was purging and she wasn’t using it as much.) It is even durable enough for my 5.5 year old to play “crash, bang” with it. However, I hate assembly of this thing. Everything is pretty easy (and I could follow the illustrated instructions with little problem) until I got to the wheel nuts. You have to hammer them on and it’s an insanely tight fit with a very small area in which to hold the nut in place. I have hammered my fingers so many times. But I’ve never had one come off after I’ve gotten the little bastards hammered all the way on.

Nice item! Well made. Will last! Size is just right! I bought this to help my very adventurous 1 year old to help him start walking as he is almost there. It does roll easily and my child could fall but it also helps teach him balance. We have wall to wall carpeting and it moves well over the carpeting. Even my 4 year old plays with it. The handle is about even with his belly button which is still perfect. I see a shopping experience coming where my son can learn about shopping and making purchases himself. This is a great toy. It will be well used. Update: this toy has taken a beating! And even 2 years later it’s still going strong. One downfall of this toy, and it’s not so much the manufacturers fault as my kids abuse this toy and climb and sit on it. But sometimes the the rod and the wheels pop out from time to time. But again, it’s because the climb on it and tip it so that the wheels are at a strange angle and the weight from my boys pop the rod out. It does pop back in with a little force. And works perfectly afterward! This doesn’t stop me from giving this toy a 5 star rating! I do suggest this to to anyone who wants to purchase it!

Directions are only pictures so I had to have my bf help but once put together it's so nice! There's no way it's gonna tip and my little man loves using it! The seat part collapses so you can put a baby (etc) in the front or close it to have more cart space! I haven't but there's a plug on the bottom so you can put sand in if you want to to make it more sturdy. As far as height goes, my son is 16m and tall for his age and it's a good height for him to use now and in a year or so.

This is a very sturdy little shopping cart. We keep various toys at our home for our two little grandchildren, so when they visit there are always toys to keep their imaginations enticed and for them to have fun with as well. This is one of the latest we've added and are so glad we did. First of all it needs some assembly but the directions were easy to follow and didn't take more than 10 to 15 minutes to assemble. I know this won't fall apart and will last for many years, then we can pass it along to someone else who can use it for their little ones. I can't stress enough how important it is to us that our grandchildren play with sturdy toys, especially at their age as our little granddaughter is just learning to walk. You'll see in one of my pictures a comparison to a different shopping cart.....and the one which is not Little Tikes we would not even be able to use for the purpose of assisting her in learning to walk. As a matter of fact it would be too dangerous just due to the weight and instability. This is a great toy for both the grandchildren as our 3 year old grandson likes loading it up with all the different toy food and even putting some of his other toys in the real basket seat in top (just like at the grocery store) to give them a ride. If you are looking for a long lasting sturdy toy shopping cart I wouldn't purchase any other.

I bought this for my 15 month old because he enjoys pushing things. The cart is high quality and well constructed, but probably better suited for slightly older children. The cart is very tall, and the bottom, being so wide and sturdy, is a little hard to maneuver on turns. But it's a great toy and he'll enjoy it when he's older. I love the little seat for stuffed animals in the front.

It's super fun for the kids so 5 stars for that. But you'll need both a hammer and screwdriver to make it. It took me about 40 minutes to make and I'm not the most savvy at building things. I don't use the hammer much, so was a little nervous that I'd mess up the wheels and alignment, but overall seems to be working fine. Another annoying thing was that I was missing some screws, so I made the most of the ones I got. My 1 year old pushes the cart around, but it's definitely harder to steer compared to the vtech walker. And she's still a bit short for it. Age requirement does say 1.5 on the box, but I bought it so that she could continue to use it as she gets older
